Her second eldest, Louise, married the Crown Prince of Sweden, eventually becoming the country’s queen in 1950. Victoria’s marriage, however, proved long-lived and happy with the couple having four children together. The move caused quite a stir across the European royal houses with the scandal stealing the spotlight from Victoria. Rather hypocritically, her father disapproved of the match and decided to marry his mistress on the same day as his daughter's wedding. So much so that after falling in love with her cousin, German prince Louis of Battenberg, she proceeded to marry him without her father’s blessing.
